Come to yoga class exactly as you are right now.
It doesn’t matter how old you are, whether you’re a man or woman, what body size you are, your fitness level, how flexible you are, or how strong you are.
Come to yoga in the state that you’re in right now.
It’s by showing up to class, by doing yoga, that you’ll make the changes you want in your body, your health, your head space and in your life.
You probably want to know what kind of yoga we do in class.
In my classes you will move, strengthen and stretch your whole body in a dynamic way, using safe, mindful alignment, with each posture intentionally linked to the next.
In beginners classes we go at a slow pace, covering the foundations with attention to safe alignment. For people with more experience, I still teach safe alignment, however the movements will be more dynamic and challenging. I always incorporate rest. Classes are not a hard-core go-go-go class, that’s just exhausting and agitating to the nervous system which we’re aiming to relax.
I will encourage you to use your breath in a specific way, which helps you connect mind and body and creates more mental peace and focus. Sometimes we ‘flow’ through postures and sometimes we hold postures longer. This combination is a powerful guide towards physical and mental relaxation, to help you let-go of mental chatter and create space and ease in your body and mind.
We always end the class with several minutes of relaxation, known in yoga as Savasana.
